Zwelakhe Onwell Msomi BA (Hons) Economics & Political Science - University Of Delhi - India
Onwell’s career spans over 20 years in corporate Southern Africa, primarily in the fast moving consumer goods market. Onwell started his career as a sales representative and worked his way up through various companies and roles, to his current position as Director System Alignment and Acting General Manager Juice Business for Coca-Cola South Africa. Previous companies include Lever Brothers, Gillette South Africa, Amabele Breweries and Illovo Sugar. Onwell is a member of the Business Unit Leadership Team, which is the executive management team of Coca-Cola South Africa.
A recent highlight of his career has been as General Manager 2010 FIFA World Cup Project Team. In this role he lead the FIFA Project Team in ensuring that Coca-Cola South Africa and the Coca-Cola Africa Group, fully leveraged the short and long term business opportunities by successfully assessing, planning, coordinating and executing all activities of the FIFA World Cup Coca-Cola Sponsorship. The project was a resounding success. The Coca-Cola South Africa execution of the 2010 FIFA World Sponsorship has been rated by FIFA as the best among all FIFA World Cup sponsors, and the best ever within The Coca-Cola Company globally.
Onwell has extensive experience in sales, key accounts management, customer marketing, consumer marketing, operations, capability building and skills development. Previous positions include National Sales Manager (RSA), General Sales Manager (RSA), Operations Manager (Zimbabwe, Zambia & Malawi), Account Director (RSA, Namibia & Mozambique) and Market Execution Director (East & Central Africa Division – 28 countries). Onwell is a certified sales & marketing trainer and consultant.
As personal interests, coaching and mentoring young talent, reading on socio economic and political issues, and studies in business development and management, rate very high. Onwell is married with two children.
