Onwell’s career spans over 20 years in corporate Southern Africa, primarily in the
fast moving consumer goods market. He started his career as a sales representative
and worked his way up through various companies and roles, to his current position
as General Manager FIFA World Cup 2010 for Coca-Cola South Africa. Previous companies
include Lever Brothers, Gillette South Africa, Amabele Breweries and Illovo Sugar.
In his current role, he leads the 2010 FIFA Project Team in ensuring that Coca-Cola
South Africa and Africa fully leverages the short- and long-term business opportunities
by successfully assessing, planning, coordinating and executing all activities of
the FIFA World Cup Sponsorship. Onwell has extensive experience in sales, customer
marketing, consumer marketing, operations, capability building and skills development.
Previous positions include National Sales Manager (RSA), General Sales Manager (RSA),
Operations Manager (Zimbabwe, Zambia & Malawi), Account Director (RSA, Namibia
& Mozambique) and Market Execution Director (East and Central Africa Division).
Onwell is a certified sales and marketing trainer and consultant.
As personal interests, reading on socio-economic and political issues rate high
,as well as studies in business development and management. Onwell is married, with
two children.
