Joe’s first job in The Coca-Cola Company was as Legal Counsel for the Coca-Cola Southern and East Africa Division. He assumed this position in July 2002 after practising as a commercial attorney at a leading Johannesburg law firm, Werksmans, Inc. where he started his professional career as a candidate attorney in 1999. In early 2004 Joe was appointed to the role of Group Intellectual Property Counsel for the then Coca-Cola Africa Group based in the United Kingdom, where he was responsible for managing and protecting the Company’s vast Trade Mark portfolio and other intellectual property rights in over 52 countries and jurisdictions in Africa. After three & half years in this role, Joe returned to South Africa and was appointed to the position of Legal Director for Coca-Cola South Africa, and also serves as a Director on the Board of Coca-Cola South Africa.

A member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, Joe holds a BA Law and LLB degrees, as well as a Higher Diploma in Company Law, all from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Commercial Intellectual Property from Nottingham Trent University in the UK.
